Real founders. Real shifts. In their own words.
What follows is the work as it lands. The before. The shift. The after. Stories from founders and leaders I have coached across Africa, plus what 500+ assessments are revealing about scaling on the continent.
“Self-care is not separate from good management. It is a core part of it.”
Reactive cycles. Never enough.
No matter how much I was doing, it was never enough. I was constantly focused on delivering for others while neglecting my own wellbeing and strategic direction. Operating in a reactive cycle rather than making intentional, well-prioritised decisions.
The click.
A key insight was realising that self-care is not separate from good management, it is a core part of it. I cannot sustainably lead, create or support others if I am running on empty. Prioritising my wellbeing is essential to clear, strategic decisions.
Intentional. Collaborative. Sustainable.
I pause to reflect before decisions. I lead collaboratively with my management committee. I have established firmer boundaries around my time and energy. I make time to rest and recharge, so I can show up for my team and the communities I serve.
Working with Liza has been a genuinely supportive and grounding experience. She leads with kindness and listens deeply and intentionally, creating a space where I feel heard and understood. She is generous with her time and always looking for ways to add value. What stands out most is how she creates clarity and offers strategic guidance while also placing me in opportunities that stretch my growth both personally and professionally.
